REMEMBER
That’s what we ask God to do on the second Sunday of Lent – remember His tender mercies! If He remembered our sins – who could stand? But there is forgiveness with Him! It is that forgiveness that the risen Christ brings to us in His true body and true blood.
REMEMBER
That’s what we ask God to do on the second Sunday of Lent – remember His tender mercies! If He remembered our sins – who could stand? But there is forgiveness with Him! It is that forgiveness that the risen Christ brings to us in His true body and true blood. “Do this in remembrance of me” he bids us! He doesn’t mean we shouldn’t forget about Him altogether as He comes to feed us this heavenly meal! What He does mean is this – for us to receive the Lord’s Supper in humble faith that He is truly present to bestow on us His cleansing and healing forgiveness - just as He promised.
REMEMBER, O LORD, Your tender mercies. REMEMBER, O LORD the perfect sacrifice of your beloved Son, for us. And He does! What God forgives, he forgets! “I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43:25).
