Palm or Passion?
Which is it, Palm Sunday or Passion Sunday? Both! The king who rode humbly into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday rode in to die! The Lord came to deliver us sinners from death. The crowds sang, “Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!” The Son of God was coming in the name of the Lord. He was coming to save them and us.

He still comes among us with His salvation! We sing the same words in the Sanctus as the crowds sang on Palm Sunday. The sacrifice Christ rode into Jerusalem to make is finished – once for all. Now, the risen King comes to serve us the life-giving fruits of His redeeming work. Just as surely as He was present in the joyful throng as He entered Jerusalem, so also, Christ is truly present as you gather in His name today. “Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!”
