THE RESURRECTION
There are all sorts of religions that promise life after death. There are even those religions which teach that someone has risen from the dead. That alone isn’t the life-changing news of the open tomb in the garden.
The life-giving news of Easter Sunday is that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, the sacrifice whose blood cleanses us from all sin rose from the dead. Alleluia! Christ has risen! He has risen indeed!

Alleluia!

Amid all the shame and suffering and blood and death on Good Friday, there was no panic in heaven! There was no doubt in the presence of God and His holy angels as to what would happen on the morning of the third day. It was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him (Acts 2:24). That’s because He is life itself – the one through whom all things were created (John 1; Col 1; Heb 1).

But was it possible for God the Son in human flesh to love us sinners so much as to suffer the punishment of the damned in hell in our stead? Was it possible for Him who is life itself to give Himself into bloody death as payment for all that stands against us? Was it possible that His words of victory from the cross, “It is finished” meant that justification was won for us all!

Yes! O blessed Yes! Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! The risen Christ now comes to you with life and salvation! In Holy Baptism you have been clothed with Christ!  The living Christ feeds you with the forgiveness food of His true body and His true blood.  And where there is forgiveness of sins, there is also life and salvation.  Rejoice! The deed is done!  Christ is risen! Just as He said, He has risen from the dead! And so will you!
