Many thanks to the congregation for sending your pastor to the Encore Doxology Conference gathering in Green Lake this weekend.  This is the second of three conferences in the Doxology series and this session included the presence of lay leaders.  Peter and Ann Gurneau were our lay participants so be sure to ask them their thoughts on the substance and the value of the weekend (Nov 22nd-24th).

Some sectionals were done jointly - Church and Ministry - Healthy relationships with difficult souls - etc..  Some were for pastors only - normalizing confession and absolution - finanancial literacy and well-being, etc.  Some were for lay leaders only - Life in the stained glass fishbowl - pastoral depletion hazards, etc.

The third session in this series will be next September, the 11th and 12th, in Naperville, Illinois.  The chief presentor will be Dr. John Kleinig from the Lutheran church in Austrailia.  He is the author of the Leviticus commentary in the Concordia Commentary series.  He has also done extensive work in pastoral care of pastors.

The first session of this three part advanced pastoral care exercise was for pastors only in July.  The second session was for pastors and lay leaders as described here.  The third session, next September, is for pastors and their wives.

Please share questions or thoughts and please recieve my hearfelt thanks for this unique and beneficial opportunity.
