"We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed...Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."  (2 Cor 4:8-9, 16-17)

Over 125 people attended Depression: The Silent Epidemic as Dr. Beverly Yahnke presented some myths and realities about depression in our culture today. Dr. Yahnke went through common depressive features and causes of depression and provided some statistics about the widespread epidemic of depression in our culture. She also provided practical tips for keeping yourself healthy while helping others who are depressed.

Events such as this is one way Luther Memorial Chapel & University Student Center seeks to use in reaching out to students at UW-Milwaukee. In partnership with the South Wisconsin District, Luther Memorial Chapel and University Student Center serves as the campus ministry at the UW-Milwaukee. Located just 6 blocks north of campus on Maryland Ave, we desire to serve as a church home away from home for students at UWM so that they may continue to receive God's gifts in Word and Sacrament.
